2019, a year of several anniversaries

2019 was quite a special year for Marion and Philipp Stauffenberg, as it was a year of several anniversaries.

1994

25 years ago, Philipp founded the bloodstock agency STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK. One of it's first purchases was SACARINA, dam of 3 classic winners in SAMUM, SCHIAPARELLI and SALVE REGINA and a real blue hen for the breed

1999

20 years ago, Marion and Philipp signed the contract for the long term lease of SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN, since then the base for their breeding operation and the location of STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK

Since 1999 horses bred, raised or prepped on the farm have won 505 races and €15.830.652 (known of)

2014

5 years ago, STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK consigned for the 1st time at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales and this has worked out quite well

Successes on the racecourse are the main aim for every stud farm and 40 wins and more than a €1.000.000 prizemoney is not bad, but was less than expected and less than in 2018. However having prepped and sold a Champion 2yo is a fantastic result for the operation and let's keep fingers crossed that WONDERFUL MOON can build on his eye-catching success in the Gr.3 Ratibor-Rennen in 2020. There were two fillies racing in the colours of GRAF AND GRAFIN STAUFFENBERG and both won. The 3yo filly and homebred winner NOELANI has been retired and added to the broodmare band. And the 2yo filly BELLE ANGLAISE won twice and will return to Stuart Williams after a spell at home. She was purchased as a foal for GNS10.000 only.
There is always something to be done on the farm SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN and the facilities have been improved significantly again with the finishing of the covered longe ring.

STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK prepped 26 yearlings for the BBAG and the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales, of whom 22, the biggest number ever for a German consignor went to Tattersalls. Especially the PINHOOKS created a very good result as the 9 yearlings fetched more than €1.400.000 having been bought for little more than €700.00 in the year before. Highest prized was a colt by SIYOUNI who was bought by Blandford Bloodstock for GNS450.000 (€546.200). As a consequence STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK purchased 7 foals at the different foal sales and spent between €25.000 and €190.000 for it's different PINHOOKING SYNDICATES.
