05/12/15 six quality foals added for different pinking syndicates
in a tough market it was not easy to buy good foals for good value
STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK added six foals at the Sales at Goffs, Tattersalls and finally Arqana for different owners to resell them as yearlings in 2016. With the increased numbers of foals on offer, the sales companies struggeled to accommodate all foals in time and give their prospective purchasers a chance to select the right candidates. However as
STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK tries to focus more on quality then on numbers and concentrates on the select sales in Europe, quite a number of foals could be scratched from the lists, as their pedigrees give them no chance to get into a better sale. However it were at the end more than 700 foals to inspect. From the final list Philipp Stauffenberg was able to buy six foals on behalf of different partnerships or syndicates.
At Goffs two foals were purchased. Having tried to buy some of the top ten foals like the colt by Galileo out of Sogno Verde or the colt by Dark Angel out of Vanishing Grey, but ended as the underbidder to name a few, Philipp managed to buy
Lot 1013 a colt from the first crop of
DAWN APPROACH out of the Stakes placed winner
ARIS for €125.000.
ARIS is a sister to Irish 1000 Guineas winner
AGAIN. He purchased a second colt in
Lot 1080 a colt from the second crop of promising young sire
HARBOUR WATCH, the first foal out of the 3yo winner
HOLY SALT, a sister to Gr.1 winner
I'M YOUR MAN for €48.000.
At Tattersalls the market was very strong for the upper level foals and a lot of them were purchased by end consumers. The scenario seemed to be similar, that quite a number of foals Philipp liked, gone out of resale value level. However
STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK managed to buy finally 3 foals. First on Thursday
Lot 889 a colt by
TEOFILO out of Stakeswinner
MAYONGA, whose first three foals are all winners for GNS60.000. On Friday a filly and a colt were purchased. The filly was
Lot 1129 by
INVINCIBLE SPIRIT out of the 3yo winner
DUTCH DIAMOND by
DUTCH ART.
DUTCH DIAMOND is a sister to Gr.1 winner
TOYLSOME. She was purchased for GNS115.000. The colt made GNS180.000 and was
Lot 1263 and again from the first crop of
DAWN APPROACH out of the Stakeswinner
ANNA'S ROCK by
ROCK OF GIBRALTAR. The foal is brother to the Gr.2 winner
BRETON ROCK.
Arqana is always the last of the major breeding stock and foal sales in Europe and
STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK bought with
Lot 201 a grey colt by
DARK ANGEL out of
TRIP TO THE MOON by
FASLIYEV for €230.000. He is brother to the 2yo Gr.3 winner
TROIS LUNES.
All foals are owned by different partnerships and will be resold as yearlings in 2016.
