16/02/12 The 3yo colts seem to be quite promising ...

... 2 out of 4 entered in European Classics

There seems to be a lot of promise in the current 3yo crop bred by Graf und Gräfin Stauffenberg. There were only four colts born at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN that year, but so far two of them have shown their trainers, that they could be above average.

Lycidas.jpgEntered for the 2.000 Guineas in Ireland and the Prix du Jockey in France is LYCIDAS (Zamindar-La Felicita). The brother to Gr.1 winner LADY MARIAN and Gr.3 winner LUCIDOR is in training with young Toby Coles in Newmarket. His handler being part-owner with the breeders of LYCIDAS as well, is full of praise how the colt has developed over the winter. The colt failed to get sold at the Yearling Sales. However LYCIDAS had shown at his second start as a 2yo, that he could be a better sort, when winning at Wolverhampton in quite promising style.

Frontier.jpgEntered for the Derby at Epsom and the Grand Prix de Paris (distance wise the French Derby) is FRONTIER (Galileo-FOUR ROSES). The brother to Gr.2 winner and Classic placed FOUR SINS was sold to the partnership of Magnier, Smith and Tabor at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales. FRONTIER won at his second start at Navan last year for Aidan O'Brien. This race was the stepping stone for Irish Derby winner FAME AND GLORY among others .
