The situation in the German Thoroughbred Industry looks not bright and the representatives of the owners and breeders seem not to know what they are doing. But Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg continue to think positive and are hopeful, they are not as dependent on the German market as most of their competitors. So they have retired two homebred fillies C´EST L´AMOUR and GOLDEN WHIP and purchased with NOTRE DAME one mare.
C´EST L´AMOUR is a multiple winner by WHIPPER out of the German Oaks winner CENTAINE, who sadly died when giving birth to CAPICHERA a filly by SHIROCCO. CENTAINE has produced the Scandinavian Champion Sprinter CALRISSIAN, a Gr.3 and multiple Stakeswinner, as well as CLIFFROSE a Gr.3 placed Stakeswinner as their best offspring so far. Her first partner will be CHAMPS ELYSEES, a multiple Gr.1 winner and own-brother to leading sire DANSILI. His first crop are foals in 2011 and made a very good impression at the sales.
GOLDEN WHIP is a multiple Stakeswinner herself and the best offspring out of the Gr.3 placed multiple Stakeswinner GENEVRA by the Champion-Sire and superior broodmare sire SEATTLE DANCER. GOLDEN WHIP was quicker than her mother winning both Stakes over 1.400m. As it is a very fast family overall, GOLDEN WHIP is booked to INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, a fast horse himself and one of the leading sires in Europe.
NOTRE DAME is by leading German sire ACATENANGO, whose daughters produced this year ANIMAL KINGDOM, the winner of the Kentucky Derby and WALDPARK, the winner of the German Derby. NOTRE DAME is already a proven mare, having produced six winners from 6 runners and 2 of them being Stakes placed. This mare was purchased from Gestut Zoppenbroich, one of the leading breeders in Germany, famed for having bred the only German Triple Crown Winner KONIGSSTUHL, sire of MONSUN, the most influential German Sire. Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg hope to establish that very successful family at their SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN.
