More changes in the broodmare band

DIE NACHT sold, GALLIVANT purchased

The sale of DIE NACHT (Night Shift-Dabara) made an end to the attempt to establish the family of DARSHAAN at Schlossgut Itlingen. DABARA, the dam of DIE NACHT was privately purchased from H H Aga Khan, carrying to NIGHT SHIFT. The mare produced one more foal, this time a colt by SINGSPIEL, called DER SPIELER. He won only one race on the flat, but made his mark now over hurdles, beeing one of the better sorts in Ireland. However DABARA failed to get in foal again and had to be put down in 2006. DIE NACHT was quite unlucky: after she won her Maiden in good style, she suffered from a back problem and never showed her true ability. Her first foal by DALAKHANI broke his shoulder in a paddock accident as a foal. Her second DIE LOEWIN, a filly by LOMITAS was sold privately and her third a filly by AMERICAN POST died at the birth. May be be it was too early to sell her, but hopefully she will be more lucky for her new connections.

DIE NACHT was carrying to BYRON, when sold at the Tattersalls December Mare Sales and funny enough, the mare purchased by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK on behalf of Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg is GALLIVANT, a sister to this successful first season sire. Was DIE NACHT a tall mare from a late maturing staying family, so is GALLIVANT the real opposite. She is quite small, but very strong and was herself a useful 2yo, winning twice at that age. Her dam is the 2yo Gr.1 winning GAY GALLANTA, which has produced already 8 winners - BYRON being her best so far. The next dam is the 2yo Stakes winner GALLANTA, which was second in the Prix Morny, Gr.1 at 2 as well. The first two runners from GALLIVANT are winners and her third, the 2yo GAY GALLIVANTER is alredy placed. She has a yearling by PIVOTAL, which is in training with Jeremy Noseda for her breeders Cheveley Park Stud and has a colt foal by KYLLACHY. She was purchased carrying to DUTCH ART, a stallion which is expected to make a major impact with his first 2yo's in 2011.
