19/11/10 Fly me to the Moon back home at Schlossgut Itlingen

sold in 2004 at Tattersalls, bought back in 2010 at Goffs

The purchase of FLY ME TO THE MOON (Galileo-FOUR ROSES) became an emotional affair, as the now 7yo returned home to Schlossgut Itlingen, where she was bred and raised by Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg, before being sold as a yearling to Darley in 2004.

However it has happened a lot in the family of the foundation mare FRAULEIN TOBIN, who brought together the couple in 1996. As FLY ME TO THE MOON was the first foal out of FOUR ROSES, she was sold at the Tattersalls October Sales Part I, ran only once as a 2yo in June on rock hard ground for Saif Ali, when trained by Clive Brittain. The Racing Post commented "... and there was a lot to like about the effort of FLY ME TO THE MOON ... and looked unsuited by the ground ..." The filly became broodmare under the Rabbah Bloodstock banner. The second foal out of FOUR ROSES became the Gr.2 winner  FOUR SINS (by Sinndar) and her 2009 yearling by GALILEO was purchased by John Magnier at the Tattersalls October Sales Part I and went into training with Aidan O'Brien.

However Rabbah had decided to sell the mare, who had delivered a foal in every season she was mated - a 2yo colt by DUBAI DESTINATION died, the yearling filly by the same sire was sold and there is a colt foal by TIGER HILL. Now FLY ME TO THE MOON is in foal to SHIROCCO. Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg are quite proud that the resulting foal will be one of the first foals of the now 3rd generation bred by them.
