06/10 Coolmore Supremo John Magnier buys a Galileo colt out of Four Roses

It seems to be quite a "golden autumn" for the breeding operation of Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg. After horses like CALRISSIAN (Efisio-CENTAINE) and GOLDEN WHIP (Seattle Dancer-GENEVRA) won three Stakes between themselves over the last weeks, this time it was in the sales ring that the couple´s Schlossgut Itlingen was in the limelight. They had send a yearling colt by GALILEO out of FOUR ROSES to the Tattersalls October Sales Part 1. Being by the sire of the moment and a brother to Gr.2 winner FOUR SINS, it was understandable that he was very busy. Unusually marked, the May born colt attracted most attention through his athletic well balanced great stride and so John Oxx the trainer of FOUR SINS commented: he is not walking, he is floating around the ring! So it was finally no surprise to see John Magnier himself finally fighting off Andrew Tinkler to purchase the colt for his usual partnership and commenting that he will go into training with Aidan O´Brien.

It was quite emotional to see the colt heading towards one of the best training yards as he is not only a grandson of their foundation mare FRAULEIN TOBIN, but not the first descendent of that mare, to go to one of the major owners world wide.

In 1996 the first foal Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg bred out of FRAULEIN TOBIN was a colt by Acatenango, later named NORD PAESE. He was sold to Teruyo Yoshida, one of the leading breeders and owners not only in Japan. The second foal, a colt by Lammtarra went the same direction and became in the colours of Yushun Horse and named ENGLAND CITY the first millionaire bred by Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg. In 1998 FOUR ROSES (by Darshaan) was foaled and kept and in 2000 FRAULEIN TOBIN foaled FEET OF FLAMES (by In the Wings), sold to Alec Wildenstein, running in their famous blue silks.

In 2003 FOUR ROSES produced FLY ME TO THE MOON (by Galileo) as her first foal. She was sold to Darley and was running in the colours of Saif Ali. Her second foal in 2004 was FOUR SINS (by Sinndar) bought by HH Aga Khan. In his worldwide successful colours she became the first international Group winner for her breeders. The 2006 born colt by Tiger Hill, later named FOUR QUARTETS became the first sales topper bred by Graf and Grafin Stauffenberg, when he was added to the ownership of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid al Maktoum.
