Today there were three runners in three different countries bred by Graf und Grafin Stauffenberg.
First was CENT CHEVEUX BLANC (Pentire-CENTAINE), a 3yo filly which started in a 1600m Maiden in the colours of her breeders in Cologne at the German 2000 Guineas Meeting. CENT CHEVEUX BLANC finished a good 3rd behind a filly which is already Gr.3 placed. The time of that race was more than a second quicker than the following Gr.3 race.
Next was her older brother CALRISSIAN (Efisio-CENTAINE) in Taeby in Sweden. He won at his debut for the 2009 season in good style the Sprint Trial over 1150m. The colt is already a Gr.3 winner for his owners Provence Hotel Holdings, who purchased him as a yearling at the BBAG Yearling Sale. He is trained by Frederik Reuterskjold and was ridden by Rafael Schistl. According to his trainer CALRISSIAN will run in the Lotto-Hamburg Trophy at the German Derby Meeting, a Gr.3 race where he finished 5th last year behind OVERDOSE.
Finally DER SPIELER (Singspiel-Dabara) won his first rave over hurdles in Killarney in Ireland. The 4yo gelding is owned by Beverley Westermann, who purchased the horse privately, trained by J Coogan and was ridden by G Cotter. DER SPIELER won a race on the flat at 3 years in Germany as well.
