19/01/20 the death of Zephyrine closes one of the first chapters of Stauffenberg Breeding and Racing
ZEPHYRINE was bought at the Tattersalls Houghton Yearling Sales, which were the best yearling sales in Europe at that time for only GNS38.000. She was the first foal out of PETAL GIRL, a sister to MTOTO, the Champion older horse in Europe in 1987. The following year PETAL GIRL foaled the Gr.1 winner MUTAMAM.
However ZENATO, winner of the Svensk Derby and Champion 3yo in Scandinavia, as well as ZAHARA, her first foal winning the Norsk Oaks as well.
ZEPHYRINE had enjoyed her retirement since 2014 and will always be remembered for her quite quirky character, but especially producing the first Derbywinner for Marion and Philipp
